The Cure is returning to North America this summer. The 45-years-running goth-tinged Brit rock band — beloved for the yearning, heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics of Robert Smith — made its post-pandemic return to the stage last year with a European run, and now they’re bringing that energy across the Atlantic. The band’s 30-plus song Wembley Arena setlists from December are enough to have us excited for the run in general and the Philly show in specific; when they play Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, June 24th, it will be their first visit to the city since 2008.
The Scottish post-punk band The Twilight Sad joins The Cure to open all dates of the tour, and you can check out their full itinerary below. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan system, and in a press release, The Cure says “THE CURE HAVE AGREED ALL TICKET PRICES, AND APART FROM A FEW HOLLYWOOD BOWL CHARITY SEATS, THERE WILL BE NO ‘PLATINUM’ OR ‘DYNAMICALLY PRICED’ TICKETS ON THIS TOUR.”
Last year, the band released a 30th-anniversary expanded edition of its landmark 1992 album Wish, built out with two discs of b-sides, remixes, demos and outtakes and more. Find out more about that here, and check out some vintage live footage below. Folks who have registered for Verified Fan get early access to tickets March 15th; the general public onsale happens March 17th at noon.
Tickets and more information on the concert can be found at WXPN’s Concerts and Events page.
