This week we’re excited to present Gladie‘s second visit to The Key Studio Sessions; though, in a sense, you could call it their third or fourth.

In addition to a their 2018 debut, the celebrated indie rock outfit’s founding singer-guitarists Augusta Koch and Matt Schimelfineg each recorded previously in past projects: Schimelfenig in 2017 with his slow-burn quartet Three Man Cannon, and Koch all the way back in 2013 with her pop-punk power trio Cayetana.

Whatever the tally of their visit, the exciting thing here is the occasion: the band put out its stellar sophomore album Don’t Know What You’re In Until You’re Out late last year and launched a new, sonically-expansive lineup of the band with Liz Parsons on bass, Pat Conaboy on guitar, and Miles Ziskind on  drums. Together their sound is huge and, as you hear in this performance, it absolutely uplifts Koch’s vulnerable yet confident and incredibly relatable songwriting.

Below, watch them rock a four-song set of highlights from DKWYIUYO: the chugging frustration of “Mud,” the buoyant determination of “Hit The Ground Running,” the anti-materialist rager “Nothing,” and the cathartic and hopeful “Born Yesterday.”

Gladie is currently out on tour with their friends in the awesome Columbus, Ohio indie-folk band Saintseneca; they play Baltimore’s Metro Gallery tonight, followed by gigs this weekend in Massachusetts, Connecticut, upstate New York, and Ontario. Get the dates and details here, and look for Gladie’s return to Philadelphia on June 9th when their next tour, with Oceanator and AJJ, comes to Union Transfer. More on that show can be found at WXPN’s Concerts and Events page.
