Ron Gallo is a busy person. He’s touring his latest album, Foreground Music, the Philly native’s first full-length release on the revered Kill Rock Stars label. He’s got a book out next Tuesday, the 18th of April; it’s called SOCIAL METEOR, and is a collection of ephemera from journal entries to essays to infographics.

He’s also releasing a concert film called Before The Building Goes Up — watch the trailer here — and his plans on the road take him around North America, over to Europe, and back, and fill his calendar up through September.

In the meantime, Gallo found time to play a revved-up hometown gig Saturday night, headlining Johnny Brenda’s with his bandmates Chiara D’Anzieri (aka Santa Chiara, aka Gallo’s spouse) on bass and Josh Friedman on drums. Those were their primary instruments, though they switched around, with D’Anzieri moving to drums and Friedman moving to guitar, underscoring the flexible range of talent this power trio possesses.

Brooklyn singer-songwriter John Roseboro opened the show, and you can check out photos from WXPN’s Ellen Miller below. The tour continues Tuesday, April 11th, at Nashville’s Basement East; dates here.
