Showcasing a set of classic country harmony pop, Nashville faves The Watson Twins stopped by World Cafe Live for today’s Free At Noon concert, matching one another vocally while showcasing their new album Holler.
Backed by Steven Cooper on guitar, Julian Dorio on drums, and Owen Beverly on bass, Chandra and Leigh Watson led the crowd through the honky tonk vibes of opener “Two Timin’,” the line dance-ready “The Palace” — a song they told the crowd features a music video shot at a Dolly Parton lookalike contest — and the title track, which is about “what can happen when we are all together in collective unity force energy.”
“We just started playing this new material live over the past couple days,” they told the crowd. “It’s a lot of prep work but our payoff is getting to play live for you guys.” The set also featured a crowd-pleasing cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.”
The Watson Twins are currently on tour opening for Heartless Bastards; they played Ardmore Music Hall last night, and will be at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City tonight. Their full tour schedule can be found at their website, where you can also pre-order Holler, due out June 23rd. Check out photos from the Free at Noon show an the setlist below.
