Singer-Songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Valerie June dazzled a sold out crowd on Monday night at the City Winery in downtown Philadelphia.

Adorned in shimmering gems and sitting on a tulle-draped chair surrounded by her array of guitars and banjos, including a baby banjolele, June serenaded us with soulful stories & songs from her latest album, The Moon & Stars: Prescription for Dreamers. We also heard cuts from June’s previous albums and a beautiful cover of Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World.”

In between songs from her latest album, Valerie also graced us with some poetry from her recently published collection called Maps for the Modern World.  For the encore, she let baby banjo shine. Her baby banjo is featured in a new children’s book that she has written, Somebody to Love.
