Our artist-oriented Throwback Thurday celebrations continues this week with an artist whose work equally embraced moody gloom and uplifting pop, an artist whose decades of hits defined the early MTV generation of the 80s and 90s — the Brit rock icons The Cure.
The band is on tour this summer, and plays Philadelphia on Saturday, June 24th, headlining the Wells Fargo Center, so every hour, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., will begin with a block or two of The Cure’s music. From Three Imaginary Boys to 4:13 Dream, the Standing On The Beach hits, the Staring At The Sea deep cuts, and other special spotlights. In the 9:00 hour, Kristen Kurtis will play notable covers of The Cure’s songs. At 1 p.m. Mike Vasilikos will play an album side from 1989’s Disintigration album. And in the 6:00 hour, Dan Reed will play an album side from The Head On The Door.
It’s not Friday, but we’re in love with The Cure, so tune in to hear their music all day long for this week’s Throwback Thursday!
