Shoegaze icons Slowdive have announced their first album in over six years, sharing ‘kisses’ as the lead single off the forthcoming record. Titled everything is alive, the album arrives on September 1st along with a tour through the U.S, U.K, Australia, and Ireland.

everything is alive is the band’s fifth studio LP, and since 2017’s Slowdive, Rachel Goswell, Neil Halstead, Christian Savill, Nick Chaplin, and Simon Scott have decided to take the group’s unmistakable voice and guide it into the future, layering 80s electronic beats and psychedelic ambience with the hollow, reverb-drenched walls of guitar that have defined their sound for decades. This stylistic shift carries through in the emotionally ambiguous tone of the record.

everything is alive is dedicated to vocalist and guitarist Rachel Goswell’s mother and drummer Simon Scott’s father, who both passed away in 2020. Goswell elaborated on the whirl of emotions during the time: “There were some profound shifts for some of us personally.” Vocalist and guitarist Neil Halstead added, “It wouldn’t feel right to make a really dark record right now. The album is quite eclectic emotionally, but it does feel hopeful.”

“‘kisses”’ delivers on these sentiments, reinventing Slowdive for the modern age while remaining true to their unique approach to songwriting and production. Check out the song and the everything is alive tracklist below, as well as the complete list of tour dates.
