This year, Philadelphia garage rock band Kelsey Cork and The Swigs is releasing their debut full-length album, and we’re taking you behind the scenes. Lollygaggers On South Broad is a multi-part documentary WXPN filmed over four days in March of 2022 as the band hunkered down in their South Philly apartment to work with producer Matt Schenck.

Episode three of the series, “You’re The Rock To My Roll,” explores the relationships between frontperson Kelsey Cork, bassist Jacinda Arellano, and guitarist Mattie Klauser, and the way their bond was strengthened with marching band and classic rock. As they jam out to “Whole Lot Of Love” and “War Pigs,” we see how working in the comfort of their home space opens up new creative possibilities. And as the session ends, we follow them down Broad Street to the Dolphin Tavern, where they join their friends and rock out to a set by Lizdelise.

Below, watch Episode Three of Lollygaggers On South Broad; listen to the singles from the album — “Don’t Need You,” “Leo Szn,” and “Leave Me Alone” — at Bandcamp. The album Lollygagger releases on Friday, July 21st, and the band celebrates with a release party at Kung Fu Necktie on Sunday, July 23rd. Tickets and more information can be found at WXPN’s Concerts and Events page. Be on the lookout for the next episode of Lollygaggers on South Broad to release next week.
