Brandy Clark teams up with Brandi Carlile on her latest, self-titled album
Brandy Clark is used to working with other artists as a sought-after country songwriter for some of the genre’s biggest stars, and while she’s focused on telling her own stories on her fourth, self-titled solo album, Clark is still working with another artist.
- "Buried"
- "Dear Insecurity"
- "She Smoked in the House"
Brandi Carlile produced the new album, and in this session, Clark explains how Carlile got involved in her latest album and how her direction, as a producer, helped shape the music and challenged Clark in new ways.
Clark also talks about writing from a woman’s perspective, and what makes a “feminine” melody. She talks about one of the women in her life who taught her so much of what she knows about storytelling — her grandmother.
In addition to her latest album, Clark also talks about Shucked — the Tony Award-nominated Broadway show she wrote. Plus, live performances from Clark’s new album.
