Joining us in the studio for this Indie Rock Hit Parade session is a group whose new albums is one of the year’s biggest breakouts. Based in Lawrence, Kansas, Sweeping Promises is singer/bassist Lira Mondal and guitarist Caulfield Schnug. On their albums, Schnug doubles as the group’s drummer, giving the self-contained duo serious DIY energy. Their newest album, Good Living is Coming for You, was released earlier this year to widespread acclaim. The songs combine the taut guitars of They Want My Soul-era Spoon, the acrobatic fury of Sleater-Kinney circa One Beat, and the unexpectedly danceable jitter of classic Pylon. While on tour for Good Living, Sweeping Promises (along with touring drummer Spenser Gralla) stopped by our studios to run through a set of new songs.
