Experimental pop artist Mitamu makes music that spans indie rock, expressive jazz, loungey pop, and meditative poetry; her Johnny Brenda’s headlining show on August 18th filled the venue with that vibrant array of sound, not just on her part, but one the part of the openers as well. Sid & Devi opened the night with their stirring blend of carnatic violin, sitar, and acoustic folk, while the Brookyn / New Haven / Philly outfit Sargasso showcased the brisk indie pop of their new album Further Away, released August 11th.
