“I love the way Nina Simone contrasts the subject matter of the song with her barreling musical-style piano. It rattles along, it has all this pace, but she’s putting across this very specific message of resistance and and and protest. She’s written so many great songs she’s been the singer of many more song, but I’d like for her to be recognized as a great artist and songwriter as well as a musician.”
