Our final Artist To Watch for the year is the Chicago guitar-centric indie rock band, Deeper.
They recently released Careful!, their third record Sub Pop Records debut; their self-released debut came out in 2018. Deeper are musically in the school of post-punk traditionalists and you might hear familiar touchpoints like Robert Smith of The Cure, a bit of Echo & The Bunnymen and some Talking Heads, yet they are pushing those revivalist post-punk metaphors to creative and expansive places with excellent songwriting and playing.
The band played Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia this past September, and will support Depeche Mode on a leg of its European tour in March and April; dates here. Watch a couple music videos from Deeper below.
