Following a few years of retrospective runs, indie-folk faves The Decemberists return today with their first new music in six years.
“Burial Ground,” out now, is a jaunty tune that finds a middle ground between The Beatles and R.E.M., and is described by frontperson Colin Meloy as “a paean to hanging out in graveyards.” As of right now, it’s a one-off for the band, but we imagine more new music is on the way.
A big 2024 tour is on the way at the very least, kicking off at Kingston, New York’s Ulster Performing Arts Center on April 30th and winding its way down to Philadelphia for a Fillmore headliner on May 8th. Details and information on the gig can be found at WXPN’s Concert Calendar; listen to “Burial Ground” and find The Decemberists’ full tour rundown below.
