We’re less than a month away from a new album by Faye Webster. So far we’ve heard singles “But Not Kiss,” “Lifetime,” and “Lego Ring (ft. Lil Yachty,” and today there’s “Feeling Good Today.” It’s a silly little interlude of a song, painting a picture of a good day filled with simple pleasures. Webster’s vocals warble under the influence of vocoder, a specific synthesizer for modularizing the human voice. The almost minute-and-a-half runtime of the song is perfect. There’s hardly much more Webster needs to say to impress the joy of the song; in fact, less is more.
The new record, Undressed at the Symphony, follows 2021’s I Know I’m Funny haha (2021), two subsequent live studio albums: Live at Electric Lady (2021) and Car Therapy Sessions (2022), not to mention the artist’s popularity explosion via social media. At Webster’s sold-out show at Franklin Music Hall last year, the adoring crowd singing along to every word truly exhibited Webster’s TikTok fame and 1100% increase in streams on Spotify.
