Indie pop/rock vets Vampire Weekend are given to doing things with some degree of eccentricity. So for the announcement of their fifth studio album Only God Was Above Us, the band announces a gig at Austin’s Moody Amphitheater on April 8th, timed to coincide directly with a total solar eclipse. The show happens at noon, and tickets go on sale February 13th at 10 a.m.; information can be found here.

The album, out April 5th via Columbia Records, is the fifth in the band’s decade-and-a-half discography, and finds singer and songwriter Ezra Koenig teamed up once again with longtime bandmates Chris Baio and Chris Tomson. The record was “recorded all over the world, from Manhattan to Los Angeles to London and Tokyo,” and features collaborations with co-producer Ariel Rechtshaid, mix engineer Dave Fridmann, and mastering engineer Emily Lazar.
