New York City-based artist Lizzie No is poised to have a big year that includes an appearance at the XPoNential Music Festiavl, and WXPN has just named her an Artist to Watch for March of 2024.
No burst onto the contemporary folk music scene with their acclaimed debut album Hard Won in March 2017. A versatile singer-songwriter, harpist, and guitarist, No quickly made her mark with a unique sound. Gaining recognition from Billboard Magazine for Hard Won, they furthered their impact with performances at major festivals like Americanafest and SXSW, and the socially conscious track “Sundown” was a voice during the Black Lives Matter movement.
No’s musical success continued with their album Vanity, noted for its narrative depth and creative musical arrangements. This album, featuring the award-winning song “Outlaws,” received attention from top media outlets such as Rolling Stone. No has continued to evolve artistically and now on the 2024 record Halfsies we hear her reflecting on a wide range of influences from Lucinda Williams to Toni Morrison, showcasing No’s ongoing journey in music, blending individual expression with a sense of community.
This year, No’s tour in support of Halfsies has them playing the Lounge of World Cafe Live on March 22nd, as well as the XPoNential Music Festival in September. Get more information on her the festival here, and find Lizzie No’s tour dates here.
