Philadelphia’s beloved Queen of Jeans unveils their eagerly awaited album, All Again, for release on June 28th via Memory Music. This eleven-track LP marks their first full release since 2019’s If You’re Not Afraid, I’m Not Afraid. With If You’re Not Afraid, Queen of Jeans delivered their signature blend of tender vocals enveloped in lush guitar melodies and dynamic percussion, reminiscent of fellow Philly favorites, Kississippi.
All Again, on the other hand, is a concept album and a postmortem. Chronicling the journey of a relationship from inception to dissolution, the album traverses the emotional spectrum, from solitude and yearning to euphoria and anguish. The haunting ambiance of its final track beautifully mirrors the album’s introspective essence, echoing its sentimental narrative.
Following the album’s lead single “Karaoke,” Queen of Jeans shared “Horny Hangover,” delving deeper into the complexities of unrequited desire and self-doubt. Lead singer Miri Devora’s raw vulnerability shines as she portrays the struggles of seeking validation in a world of fleeting connections, vividly depicted in the accompanying music video. Despite the somber undertones, the track exudes a sonically uplifting energy, complemented by the vibrant and visually bright aesthetics of the music video (shot at Northern Liberty’s Ortlieb’s).
Devora and guitarist Mattie Glass returned to producer Will Yip’s studio for All Again. With the addition of drummer Patrick Wall and bassist Andrew Nitz, the band pushed the boundaries of their sonic palette to craft an album that they boldly proclaim as their magnum opus.
Queen of Jeans can’t wait for fans to hear All Again, saying its a “rich indie-rock record, changing dance partners between 60s pop sweetness, 90s alt rock dirt, spacious emo, and the melodicism of the sharpest acoustic singer-songwriter acts.” Check out “Horny Hangover” and its accompanying music video below. The band opens for Anthony Green tonight, March 12th, at World Cafe Live.
