Made up of lead singer and songwriter Michael Doherty and bassist Nick Sebastiano, Another Michael are leaving their mark on the Philly indie-rock scene.
“Seafood” is the fourth single from their upcoming album, Pick Me Up, Turn Me Upside Down, which is set to release on May 31st via Run For Cover Records. The album comes less than a year after their most recent album, Wishes To Fulfill. The two records serve as contrasting yet complimentary albums, paying tribute to the power of transcendent musical moments and expressing the band’s love for song.
Speaking about the new single in a press release, Doherty shares, “I wrote ‘Seafood’ from the perspective of characters in the seafood industry: fishermen, suppliers, restaurant workers, and at-home cooks. I was feeling particularly romantic about seafood at the time, and the song well encapsulates that headspace. In a similar way that writing about music came up on our first album, writing about food feels natural to me.”
Perhaps an unconventional topic for a song, but Another Michael makes it work. Especially when paired with the music video. The video cuts between clips of Doherty and Sebastiano on a beach and pier, encapsulating the tranquility that comes with being by the sea in winter.
