Floyd fans, rejoice! David Gilmour has just announced his newest studio album Luck and Strange, his first album of new material in nine years. Out this week is the lead single “The Piper’s Call,” which one-ups all the other Floyd-worshiping bands out there by being, you know, actually made by someone in Pink Floyd.
“The Piper’s Call” sits comfortably in the shadow of the otherworldly prog-rock that Floyd gave us throughout the seventies; it’s a throwback to the DSOTM era, with soaring guitar solos, light synthwork, and a soulful female vocal performance. Pink Floyd fans will no doubt fall in love with it.
