The War On Drugs share two Bruce Springsteen covers as Amazon Music exclusives
Announced today, The War On Drugs shared two Springsteen covers, “Dry Lightning” and “Highway 29” for Amazon Music. Both songs were recorded in Los Angeles, and are available exclusively on Amazon’s platform.
“I chose two songs from ‘Ghost of Tom Joad’ for a number of reasons, one of them being he was my age when he made that record, and that was kind of the record that I remember learning about Bruce beyond what I was hearing on classic rock radio,” says War On Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel. A good 30 years from that point in Granduciel’s life, he met Springsteen himself. And “The Boss” told him that Ghost was the record he was most proud of.
“His songs are uniquely American,” says Granduciel. “But I think that the stories are fairly universal. Ya know, families trying to make it work, and people trying to get up in the morning and go to work and have a full life. I think that’s why [Springsteen] has been embraced for so long all over the world.”
