Snoozer have arisen from their slumber. Just last month, the Delco-rooted band announced a new album, Mid-Earth, that is set to release September 13 via Born Losers Records. They also released a new single, “Love’s Permission,” their first piece of new music since the 2022 album zzz.

Today, Snoozer released “Nocturnal,” which is a brief look to the past amidst the lead-up to their new album. If “Nocturnal” sounds familiar, that’s because it was featured on zzz, but a reimagined version of the song will be a part of their upcoming album as well. The accompanying music video, also released today, sheds a new light on the song. “The song can’t really be appreciated without the video,” shared Mike Kelly, “That’s why we wanted the video to be so special. Big Howl did such an amazing job bringing the sad, funny little world of the song to life.” And he’s right. The song has a melancholic tone, and the lyrics paint a sorrowful picture, but the music video adds an additional layer of heartbreak, as a cartoon fox yearns for comfort and family. Watch the music video below to see for yourself.

Snoozer is made up of brothers Mike and Tom Kelly. Pennsylvania natives, the brothers have evolved from a loud Philly house show band to a (still loud) reflective alt-rock band, and they continue to grow with each release.

Mid-Earth was created last summer and was a much different process from their past releases. “Our previous albums took years to make and were always cobbled together from demos and practices and sporadic studio time but this album was so much different—It was one concerted effort,” shared Mike in a press release. “We definitely set out to make a big polished rock album but as the process wore on we just followed our bliss and stopped trying to aim for anything—if something excited us we went with it.” Mid-Earth will be their first official release with Born Losers.

You can catch Snoozer this Friday at the RLC Court, and the band will be touring with Brad Stank and Ricewine in September. Check out dates below and pre-order Mid-Earthhere.
