Boston indie group Horse Jumper of Love recently rleased the music video to their most recent single “Snow Angel.” The third new song the band has released this year, “Snow Angel” and its accompanying video tease HJOL’s upcoming album, Disaster Trick. Filmed as one continuous shot through water, the video is blurred and distorted, complimenting this track’s shoegaze vibe.

Known for cuts like “Orange Peeler” and “Ugly Brunette,” which was on NPR’s Songs We Missed, Horse Jumper of Love will be releasing their fifth studio album August 16th via Run for Cover Records. Disaster Trick promises to be a “purposeful” album, and “Snow Angel” is already delivering. Featuring MJ Lederman and Squirrel Flower’s Ella Williams, it’s a beautifully melancholy single.

“A lot of my songs start with an image and then stream of consciousness takes over from there,” Dimitri Giannopolous explained in a recent statement. “I had this idea of a snow angel melting in the sun. It stemmed from the first poem in Actual Air [book by David Berman of Silver Jews] called ‘Snow.’ Through this piece, David Berman explores the idea of snow metaphorically and abstractly. He relates the outdoors sounding like a room when it’s snowing and snow angels being shot by a farmer, vulnerable and isolated… I wanted to tap into a feeling of being outside in the cold and wanting something.”

Their upcoming tour with DIIV is kicking off here in Philadelphia with a show July 15th at Union Transfer, transitioning into a fall celebrating their new album.
