The tiny things in life. Searching for peace in a world that may tell you it’s unattainable. Nature. Time. All delicately packaged in a cozy folk song. “Seed of a Seed,” Haley Heynderickx’s first solo release since her debut album I Need to Start a Garden in 2018, is a triumphant return, full to the brim with heart.
Perhaps fittingly, the track came about accidentally for the Oregon-based singer/songwriter. “I first sent a demo of ‘Seed of a Seed’ to my friend Tré Burt and he loved it,” shared Heynderickx about the single in a press release. “For three years he kept asking me if I’d finished the ‘better better’ song. It felt like a throwaway song to me, at first. It’s so simple, but I didn’t realize how much angst I’d woven into it: a desire for simplicity, and how far away that felt. It seems I accidentally pressed my story—the last four years of my life—into a tiny little tune and I love it now, too.”
Heynderickx will also embark on a tour this fall, with a stop right here at World Cafe Live on November 15. Check out her full list of dates, and watch the beautifully choreographed music video, below.
