Twenty-five years ago, a humble little emo album packaged with an askew picture of an old house and some lovably-horrible typefacing was released into the world. That album was, of course, American Football, or as its most dedicated fans (myself included) insist on calling it, Americ anfootball, a record that has only grown in popularity and acclaim since its 1999 release; they even bought the house from the album cover last year (who would’ve thought an indie rock band in the 2020s would get to buy a house?).

Now, one of the greatest midwest emo albums ever made is being rereleased in two formats; a remaster and a tribute album, entitled American Football (Covers). The record will see Iron & Wine, Ethel Cain, John McEntire, and more indie heroes reconstructing Americ anfootball front-to-back; you can check out the full tracklist below, and find pre-order info here.
