Earlier this year, Adrianne Lenker stunned the indie sphere with her lo-fi country record Bright Future, which saw her diving deeper into her Appalachian influences without compromising her knack for forward-thinking approach to production and lyricism.

It’s one of the most celebrated albums of the year, and if you couldn’t get enough of it, good news; the Japanese-edition-only CD bonus track “Once A Bunch” has finally received an official release on streaming. The song has existed in Big Thief’s live rotation since 2021, but rather than releasing it with the full band, Lenker opted to record it in the same stripped-down home-demo style that Bright Future employed to great success. Dueting her cryptic lyrics with a muffled male vocalist atop a guitar-driven country waltz, “Once A Bunch” is Lenker at her best.

You can stream “Once A Bunch” below; Adrianne Lenker plays Union Transfer on November 25th, tickets and more information can be found at the WXPN Concert Calendar.
