Bred in New Jersey and based in South Philly, Local Honeymoon is an impressive indie rock four-piece that burst on the scene over the past year. Comprised of singer-guitarist Jeff Linden, lead guitarist Derrick Dieso, bassist Meged Eisenberg, and drummer Henri Brooks, the band makes dynamic, arena-aspiring anthems for the basement show scene. The vibe is equal parts electrifying and introspective; their self-titled debut EP, released in April, is incredibly fun but will get you in your feelings big time.

Connecting the lyrical dots between tales of love, yearning, and ennui is a bevy of pop-cultural and cultural-cultural Easter eggs that reward close listening. Think of it as a postmodern jukebox where Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the MCU, Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” and Chappell Roan’s “Casual,” all brilliantly coexist.

In this week’s Key Studio Session, Local Honeymoon gives an explosive three-song performance, touching on two highlights from that self-titled EP — the single “Everything Is A Lot,” as well as the epic heartbreaker “You, Me, & The Butterflies” — plus a brand new song called “Good Enough.”

Watch the performance below, and see Local Honeymoon live on their late summer run of shows; they play Manayunk’s Fat Lady Brewing this Saturday, August 17th with The Tisburys, followed by a show at Foto Club on Friday, August 23rd with Wallace, and a Phoenixville gig at Artifaqt on Thursday, September 5th with Tucked in.
