Known for whimsical and warm indie folk songs, Joanna Sternberg has delivered again with “A Country Dance.” Idiosyncratic and soothing, “A Country Dance” is the third new track Sternberg has released since their 2023 album, I’ve Got Me, following “Neighbors” and “Without You.”
Written for Between the Temples, an upcoming film directed by Nathan Silver, it was actually inspired by Sternberg’s friend. “The joke of the song is: I don’t dance, I don’t drink wine, I don’t go outside and I DEFINITELY do not go out in nature (allergies and insect phobias), but I wanted a playful nonsensical song to sing and to capture the fun I have with my dear pal,” shared Sternberg about the track, “I think the reason the song can fit in [I’ve Got Me] is that it captures a freewheeling imaginative feeling. The lyrics are vague enough to be applied to anything, and it just creates a ‘fun and fancy-free’ mood!”
