It’s like Christmas has come and gone here at XPN Central now that our festival is over. The anticipation of the weekend, then the event itself kept us busy for weeks. Now that it’s over, it’s back to our typically scheduled content around here, which would be a tad depressing if it weren’t…well, kind of awesome.
Before we start rolling out all the new Free At Noon, World Cafe, Key Studio Session, etc. content to come, we thought it would be nice to highlight some of the videos that came out in the weeks leading up to XPoNential. In the hubbub of Fest promotion, we certainly didn’t want these videos to have passed without them getting their proper due, so here’s a collection of videos available to you now ICYMI (in case you missed it).
This Key Studio Session was shot back in April, but just released recently on YouTube. The buzzing local band will play Spruce Street Harbor Park this Thursday, and played an Audiotree that released just last month. We’re partial to The Key Studio version though, of course.
This quirky video came from the brain of our in-house video team — we wanted to do something fun with this band, but they’d just be in to record a session last year. Thus, this Y2K-themed music video was created, and on Penn’s campus, believe it or not.
We know you don’t want to miss any Dr. Dog footage now that it’s harder to come by these days. Hear Scott and Toby from the band discuss with Raina about what brought them back together and the inevitable longevity of the band.
This can’t-miss World Cafe interview featuring the other-worldly Jessica Pratt is available now, featuring songs from this writer’s potential AOTY, Here in the Pitch.
August 6th was Jamaican Independence Day, and to celebrate, XPN Local featured four talented, local musicians of Jamaican decent to perform three of their favorite reggae tunes. Watch the full video for a thoughtful conversation about Jamaican culture living in American now.
