Monday 12/9: Quelle Chris at MilkBoy

Detroit rapper and producer Quelle Chris has been making stirring, psychedelia-influenced hip-hop since 2011, and tonight he comes to Philly to bring some heady atmospheres to MilkBoy in Center City. His most recent record, Deathfame, featured collabs with Chris Keys and Knxledge.// 8 p.m., $24.95, 21+

Tuesday 12/10: Suki Waterhouse at Franklin Music Hall

Model, actress, whatever…indie rock powerhouse Suki Waterhouse is set to bring her stunning album Memoir of a Sparklemuffin to Philly this Tuesday. She recently chatted with WXPN’s Megan Matuzak about the inspiration and process behind the expansive and eclectic album. XPN faves Bully open the show. // 8 p.m., $38.50, AA

Wednesday 12/11: The Blood Brothers at Union Transfer

Reunited screamo groundbreakers The Blood Brothers will bring their cathartic, high-intensity-workout of a live show to Philly for two nights this week. Architects of the underground ripper Burn, Piano Island, Burn as well as it’s major label companion piece Crimes, which turns 20 this year. The band hand-picked two stellar Philly openers for its two-night stand; Rid Of Me opens the sold out Tuesday night gig, while Soul Glo is on the bill for Wednesday.// 8 p.m., $36, AA

Thursday 12/12: Wax Jaw at Union Transfer

Recent Key Studio Sessions stars Wax Jaw will bring their ferocious live show to Underground Arts this Thursday on what’s being billed as a triple-headlining act, along with Philly punk outfit Friend and the touring UK band The Thing. Wax Jaw, who mixes surf punk, new wave, and social / political commentary, will release a new album in 2025 via Born Losers Records, and we’ll no doubt get a taste of it at this gig. // 8:30 p.m., $20.66, 21+

Thursday 12/12: Fantastic Cat at World Cafe Live

Locally-connected jammers Fantastic Cat played a winning Free At Noon earlier this year, and they’re back for more. The band returns to the World Cafe Live stage this Thursday for a headlining appearance in support of this year’s Now That’s What I Call Fantastic Cat. // 8 p.m., $35, AA

Friday 12/13: The Jesus Lizard at Union Transfer

On the topic of reunited alternative howlers, 90s faves The Jesus Lizard are on a run this fall in support of their first new music in over 25 years. Rack, released earlier this year on Ipacec, finds the Austin band as heavy as ever. They’ll be supported by Cold Court, one of Philly’s finest up-and-coming acts, who have new music on the way next year via Rough Trade; arrive early and get ready to rage. // 8 p.m., $40, AA

Friday 12/13: Kathleen Edwards at Arden Gild Hall

Singer-songwriter fave Kathleen Edwards has been popping up on the WXPN 885 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century Countdown quite a bit, and with good reason. The Canadian singer-songwriter won our hearts with her debut LP Failer and we most recently heard from her on 2020’s Total Freedom. She plays Arden Gild Hall this Friday on her December tour. // 8 p.m., $41.72, AA

Saturday 12/14: Low Cut Connie at Anchor Rock Club

Philly rockers on the Jersey Shore sounds like a recipe for a fun Saturday, right? Low Cut Connie plays their final Philly-area gig of 2024 this Saturday at Anchor Rock Club. Head down the AC expressway, grab some pizza from Tony Boloney’s, and fuel up for a raucous good time. // 8 p.m., $25, AA

Saturday 12/14: Strand of Oaks at Union Transfer

He doesn’t live in Philly anymore, but Tim Showalter of Strand of Oaks continues to celebrate the end of the year in his longtime hometown with the semi-annual Winter Classic, this year taking place at Union Transfer and featuring a full band (as opposed to the solo electric performances of years past). Oaks put out a new record this year called Miracle Focus; hear it live in this unique setting. // 8 p.m., $23, AA

Saturday 12/14: Son Little at Ardmore Music Hall

Soulful soundscaper Son Little got his start on the east coast jamming with the extended Roots family. These days, he’s been posting up out west and making equally vibey music. Welcome back to the Philly winter this Saturday when he headlines Ardmore Music Hall. // 8 p.m., $22, AA
