Kentucky rock veterans My Morning Jacket are back this year with a new album, simply titled is. It marks their tenth studio album, and their first new work since the band’s 2o21 self-titled outing.
With the news comes a new song, “Time Waited,” a slow burn that turns from pensive ballad to rock anthem over a bed of chiming piano keys. Frontman Jim James said in a press release that, after toying around with loops and melodies, the lyrics came to him in a dream “…where I was in a café and a song was playing, and the lyrics to that song became the lyrics to ‘Time Waited’ – the melodies just fit perfectly. And the lyrics are about how flexible time is, how we can bend and warp time, especially if we are following our hearts, the universe and time itself can flow to work with us.”
