Last winter, Philly-born heavy shoegaze outfit Nothing launched their own festival, Slide Away, packing the house at Union Transfer on a cold March night to rage to a diverse array of explosive sounds and celebrate the tenth anniversary of Nothing’s debut LP Guilty of Everything.

Today, Nothing announced year two of Slide Away, and it’s an expansion on their starting point. It’s no longer set in Philly, but rather in New York and Los Angeles, bringing an array of noise, bliss, and numbness to the Brooklyn Paramount on April 26th and the Hollywood Palladium on May 26th.

Nothing plays both nights, as do the legendary Swervedriver and underground favorites Whirr. In New York, indiepop stars The Pains of Being Pure At Heart will play their self-titled album in full, along with sets from buzzing Philly outfit Her New Knife, Hong Kong’s Lucid Express, and a DJ set by Norman Brannon of Texas Is The Reason and Thursday. In LA, indie icons Swrlies will play (following up on a set at the inaugural Slide Away) as well as Cali outfit Luster, the ethereal Kentucky artist Vyva Melinkolya, and a DJ set from experimental Canadian artist claire rousay.

This year, there’s a benefit component to the festival as well: Slide Away NYC benefits The Trevor Project, which provides suicide prevention and crisis intervention services for LGBTQ+ youth, while Slide Away LA benefits the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, that works to end mass incarceration in California and provides a support network for incarcerated people.
