Singer-songwriter Ben Kweller recently shared a new single, “Dollar Store” and video, the first preview from his new record out May 30th via The Noise Company. It’s Kweller’s first album since the tragic passing of his 16 year-old son Dorian Zev, and the release date coincides with his son’s birthday.

With “Dollar Store,” Kweller tapped Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield and crafted a song that feels like a “’90s nostalgia gut punch,” and “like something you heard on the late-night radio as a teen alone in your bedroom.” He matches the appropriate guitar-driven melody and head-thumping dynamics with a video of a couple locked away in a motel room, watching VHS tapes and eating junk food.

With the release of Cover The Mirrors comes a spring/summer of tour dates. Kweller and his band with support from rising folk star Ryman will be at Philly’s Underground Arts on April 21st.
