Friday 3/14: Kim Deal at The Keswick Theater

What does bold and badass Breeders frontperson Kim Deal sound like with horns? Or a string section? Or singing a hushed bossa nova ballad? Her debut solo album Nobody Loves You More, released last year and encompassing a decade’s worth of writing and recording, explores these possibilities and more with a dynamic range of energy. It’s quirky and surprising, left-of-center and also familiar, with classic Deal rippers never far away. Her tour in support of it comes to The Keswick this Friday; Ratboys open. // 8 p.m., $40 and up, AA – J.V.

Saturday 3/15: Vijay Iyer at Clef Club

Sunday 3/16: Glixen at PhilaMOCA

Phoenix space rockers Glixen made a Philly splash last year as the first band to take the stage at Slide Away, Nothing’s inaugural festival of (for lack of a better term) new shoegaze (“newgaze”). The four piece was rhythmic and radiant at that show, supporting their debut EP She Only Said, and they’re back for 2025 with a new project called Quiet Pleasures, which they’ll showcase this Sunday at a PhilaMOCA show. Suzy Clue and She’s Green open the show. // 8 p.m., $15, AA – J.V.

Sunday 3/16: ZZ Ward at City Winery Philadelphia

The Bucks County born blues rocker ZZ Ward returns this week with her latest album, Liberation. Her back catalog explored pop and soul melodies, heard on her debut single “When The Casket Drops” from a decade ago, but Ward characterizes her latest in an interview with Tinnitist as the most fully-realized version of herself. “This is who I’ve always wanted to be — a blues artist, on my terms. It just took me a long time to get here.” Ward celebrates the new music with her hometown day-ones at City Winery this Sunday. // 7:30 p.m., $48 and up, 21+ – J.V.
