This winter, World Cafe Live hosted WXPN’s second-ever Homegrown Live! concert, a free gig showcasing musicians from the Philly region. The vibe was delightfully indie pop, with up-and-coming artist Madska and longtime XPN favorites Hurry and setting the stage for the artist we’re featuring this week.
The indie rock four-piece Queen of Jeans have been favorites of WXPN for almost a decade, going back to their delightful debut single “Dance (Get Off Your Ass).” The music the band has released over that time has grown bigger and bolder, with roof-raising pop arrangements mixing with heartrending lyrics. The band’s third album, All Again, was released last year by Memory Music and in this Homegrown Live set, the band pulls entirely from its track list for this knockout hometown performance, warming them up for a big spring tour.
Queen of Jeans is out on the road with The Menzingers for the next month and a half; they will be in the area twice during this tour, playing Reverb in Reading on May 31st, and The Queen in Wilmington on June 1st.
