Horsegirl gets heavy for Free At Noon
The Chicago noise pop trio brought a riveting set to a packed house at World Cafe Live.
They’ve been making music together since 2019, but the Chicago trio Horsegirl is having a moment. Drawing on noisepop and shoegaze in a riveting presentation, the band released its sophomore album on revered indie label Phonetics On and On back on Valentines Day via revered indie label Matador Records.
This afternoon, bathed in low red light, Horsegirl showcased their aesthetic and the album for a packed house at World Cafe Live, treating today’s Free At Noon to seven of Phonetics’ 11 songs, with a throwback to their 2022 debut Versions Of Modern Performance on the song “Anti-Glory.”
Check out photos from the set below. Horsegirl heads out on a European tour next month; full dates here. Pick up Phonetics On and On via Matador Records here.
