Two WXPN favorites played the Upper Merion Township Building Park on July 10th: indie singer-songwriter Phosphorescent, and rousing rootsy rockers Dawes. The bands played to an energized crowd on a sunny summer night, showcasing popular faves from across their catalog, “Song For Zula” and “When My Time Comes” included.

The show was part of the 39th season of the popular Concerts Under The Stars summer series. Over the decades, the spirit of CUTS has expanded into a network of similar shows programmed by Rising Sun Presents.

The King of Prussia location where this show took place will host commanding countrified singer-songwriter Grace Potter on July 23rd, pub rock icon Nick Lowe with the surfy surrealists Los Straitjackets on August 2nd, Tuareg rocker Mdou Moctar on September 13th, and free shows including The Graceland Experience featuring Bakithi Kumalo on August 8th and the Grateful Dead tribute Splintered Sunlight on August 30th.

Down the Main Line a little ways, the Bryn Mawr Twilight Concert Series continues across August and includes a Folk Fest Preview featuring Max Davey, Lily Anel, and more on the 1st, Darlingside on the 8th, and Vienna Teng on the 30th. Also not to be missed are the free concert at Spruce Street Harbor Park, the Eagleview Summer Concert Series, and the East Whiteland Summer Stage — details on all of these can be found at Rising Sun Presents’ webpage.
