Jingle Jams Is Back, And Spoiler Alert: No Whammies!
Get that hot cocoa going and put on your soft pants, it’s time to get cozy on XPN2!
Jingle Jams, our annual 24/7 holiday music stream, is back on XPN2, and this year’s run officially kicked off on November 17.
Curated by our own DJ Robert Drake, this truly charming and wide-ranging set of holiday themed songs leans into the full spectrum of seasonal sound: cozy, sparkly, sentimental, and occasionally pretty weird (in the best way, we promise).
It’s all music with no talk breaks and no spots — just an endless flow of wintery tunes from Robert’s personal collection, perfect for background listening while you’re working, decorating, traveling, or just trying to feel a little more human around the holidays.
“I lovingly curate this stream each year.,” says Drake. “It’s just unique wall-to-wall seasonal sounds from my collection that I’ve gathered over the past 40-plus years!”
Over the years, Jingle Jams has turned into one of WXPN’s most beloved traditions. When we first rolled it out in 2012, we billed it as an “all-holiday music stream” and a way to set the soundtrack for the season, with Robert pulling in everything from deep-cut oddities and indie one-offs to jazz instrumentals and classic crooners.
We’ve often joked about the “music elves at WXPN” expanding the definition of holiday music, and that’s still the idea: songs that celebrate the holidays and the winter season without feeling like the same 12 tracks you hear at the mall. Best of all? The channel is whamproof!
“Fun Fact: Jingle Jams is a WHAM FREE ZONE,” says Drake. “If you’re going to be playing Whamageddon you can listen nonstop without fear of being WHAMMED!”
Jingle Jams is rolling from now through New Year’s Day, and it pairs especially well with the rest of our holiday lineup, including Robert’s marathon The Night Before on XPN broadcast and the Jingle Cam peeking into his snow-globe of a studio.
