When The Record Company stopped by WXPN, the trio came in to mark 10 years of their Grammy-nominated debut Give It Back to You.

“We didn’t have the idea that 10 years later we’d be celebrating it,” singer and guitarist Chris Vos said. “We were just hoping a couple people would hear it.”

Vos, bassist Alex Stiff, and drummer Marc Cazorla started playing together in Los Angeles around 2011. “We were dudes in our 30s who thought it had passed us by,” Vos said.

“I wrote a cold email to Bruce Warren with kind of an early version of ‘Don’t Let Me Get Lonely,'” Stiff said. “And he wrote back and said, ‘I’m going to make this the song of the day.’ We were like a few months old at that point. It really gave us a bit of a boost of like, ‘hey, maybe we’re on to something here.'”

Warren went on to also feature “Rita Mae Young,” the album’s second single. “XPN’s been there for us since the beginning, man,” Vos said. “Philadelphia’s the best.”

The visit also coincided with the deluxe edition of Give It Back to You, which collects live tracks, demos, and previously unreleased material including “Stay Up High.”

“When I was compiling this deluxe edition, I came across this song and I thought, this has got some vibe to it,” Vos said. “It’ll be cool to have so people could hear it and feel a part of the process a little bit.”

The deluxe edition of Give It Back to You is out now.
