Brigitte Calls Me Baby
Where They’re From:
Chicago, Illinois
Who They Are:
Rooted in Chicago, Illinois, band Brigitte Calls Me Baby makes riveting, retro rock and roll music that feels calmly nostalgic yet eerily new. There’s an intriguing, shape-shifting allure to the band’s familiar yet fresh sound. In interviews, Brigitte Calls Me Baby has listed a wide range of groups as influences including The Cars, The Strokes, Roy Orbinson, and Radiohead. Listening to the group, you can hear a lot of 50’s rockabilly – both in the easygoing, jangly instrumentals and the hypnotically smooth vocals of singer Wes Leavins – as well as some more recent rockers. Director Baz Luhrman took note of Leavins’ vocal talent and tapped the singer to record tracks for the recent Elvis biopic. Their first EP, This House is Made of Corners, came out in 2023, and the band was named an XPN Artist To Watch in February of 2024.
