Hermanos Gutiérrez

Where They’re From: Zurich, Switzerland
Who They Are:
The brotherly duo are creators of atmospheric guitar music that evokes dusty roads and windswept vistas, lazy hot summer days and cinematic vibes. The guitar-playing brothers, Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez, are two of four siblings who were raised by an Ecuadorian mother and a Swiss father in Zurich, and they often visited family in Ecuador while growing up, absorbing the music of Latin America that would later inform their own sound.
Around age nine, Estevan learned to play classical guitar in Latin styles. Alejandro, who is eight years younger, taught himself guitar by watching tutorial videos on YouTube. The Hermanos Gutiérrez band traces its origins to a jam session in Alejandro’s apartment in Zurich during a visit from Estevan in 2015.
After recording four self-released albums, the duo began to achieve wider fame when The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach produced their 2022 album El Bueno Y El Maio, which was released on his Easy Eye Sound imprint thru major label Concord. The band followed up with 2024’s Sonido Cosmico and a 2025 single featuring vocals by Leon Bridges called “Elegantly Wasted.”
