Who They Are: Founded by singer-songwriter Frances Quinlan the summer after their freshman year of college — and debuting with the whimsically trippy folk LP Freshman Year — Hop Along is a band with an ever-evolving sound. Joined over the years by their brother Mark on drums, as well as guitarist Joe Reinhart, and bassist Tyler Long, Quinlan’s songwriting expanded into realms of post-emo catharsis, propulsive rock, and moments of ethereal grace, with lyrics both impressionistic and surreal, finding beauty in the people and things society casts aside.
