Mumford & Sons
Where They’re From:
London, UK
Who They Are:
Formed in London in 2007 by singer/guitarist Marcus Mumford, banjo player Winston Marshall, keyboardist Ben Lovett, and bassist Ted Dwane, Mumford & Sons helped revitalize the folk-rock sound of the mid 2000’s, blending bluegrass and classic folk with modern stadium rock grandeur to create a familial homegrown act that anyone can relate to. In fact, their moniker is meant to invoke the idea of a venerable family business: dependable, trustworthy, and made with love. The band’s debut album, 2009’s Sigh No More, delivered on this vibe with hits such as “The Cave” and “Little Lion Man” earning the band Grammy Award nominations for both Best New Artist and Best Rock Song. 2012’s follow up LP Babel refined and expanded on their previous work, winning Album of the Year at the Grammys later that year. Following a three-year hiatus, Mumford & Sons returned with Wilder Mind in 2015, and most recently 2018’s Delta.
