Who They Are:
Otis Redding was a popular mid century singer-songwriter who got his start performing in the American south. “The King of Soul” is remembered for his contributions to the soul and R&B genres, singing backup for Little Richard, and for hits such as “(Sitting) On the Dock of the Bay” and “Try a Little Tenderness.” After losing his life in a plane crash, Redding won two Grammy Awards in 1969 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
