Who they are: Peter Gabriel broke into the music industry as the singer-songwriter for English rock band Genesis from 1967 to 1975. His songwriting ability and outstanding theatricality propelled the progressive band into stardom that lasted well beyond Gabriel’s exit. As a solo artist, Gabriel produced an extensive and decorated discography in a genre all his own. Gabriel is also known for founding the world music festival WOMAD and for his efforts as a human rights activist.
