The Belair Lip Bombs Free At Noon – 4.10.26

Australian indie rock outfit The Belair Lip Bombs put on a fiery Free At Noon show here at WXPN.

The band is celebrating their sophomore album, Again (released on Jack White’s Third Man Records), with a tour and stopped by Friday ahead of their sold-out show Saturday at PhilaMOCA, with dust and Laveda supporting them.

Wasting no time, they jumped right into their set with “Again and Again” from the new album, with all four locking in early. Singer and guitarist Maisie Everett’s ability to play rhythm guitar that goes beyond strumming chords while belting out the title lyric.

They moved on to the album’s third track, “Another World. “Could you be my girl in another world? / I wanna be the one that you riff with / I wanna be the one that you kiss,” Everett sang.

And riff she did along with guitarist Mike Bradvica, both wielding Fender Stratocaster guitars that filled the room with powerful, punchy licks and complex chords.

After “Another World,” drummer Daniel Devlin joked this was the earliest any musician has been awake. They played New York City Thursday night, drove down to Philly for Free At Noon, and headed back to New York for a second Big Apple show Friday night.

“Back of my Hand” came next. The song lulls you into thinking it might be a bit more laid back, but the band can’t seem to hold themselves in, opening the song up in the post-chorus with chords slammed out through overdriven amplifiers.

They took it back to their 2023 release, Lush Life, and played “Stay Or Go” before tapping into new material again with “Price Of A Man” followed by “If You’ve Got The Time.”

The Belair Lip Bombs then played their biggest hit, “Hey You,” which has been in heavy rotation on our airwaves and was ranked 91st on our Top 100 Songs of 2025. While the crowd was definitely feeling the previous songs in the performance, “Hey You” garnered a strong reaction from the Free At Noon audience, which featured about 300 people in a wide range of ages.

Some show goers were vibing with the two-step nature of the song’s rhythm, but the enjoyment was rather passive, it was about 12:30 p.m. after all. The energy during “Hey You” at Saturday’s show may blow the roof off PhilaMOCA.

Everett noted the band was recovering from the flu, which led the crowd to affirm they sounded great, and there was no lie in that. “You sound awesome,” one person shouted out.

They closed out their set with “Don’t Let Them Tell You (It’s Fair)” from Again and Lush Life‘s lead track “Say My Name.”
