Ears We Trust: Amber Miller
Introducing “Ears We Trust:” a new feature where we ask Philly-area music personalities, artists, and other folks in the scene about what’s been stuck in their heads. First up is WXPN host Amber Miller.

We’re launching a new feature here at XPN dedicated to what people behind the Philly music scene are listening to. Welcome to Ears We Trust.
To kick off this series, we’ve got a slate of picks XPN’s own Amber Miller, host of What’s the Frequency, which airs from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays. Here’s what’s been in her regular rotation.
Ratboys – “Anywhere”
Music from our March Artist To Watch and their just released album Singin’ To An Empty Chair.
It is the uncontested catchiest song of the first-quarter of ’26. Good luck to any songs that dare step up to challenge it the rest of the year. Probably not what the song is actually about, but with the chorus repeating “I’m going anywhere that you’re going, I’m going anywhere that you’re going…” my mind conjures an adorable dog following their person all around the house and the yard, day after day, month after month… looking up at them with hearts in their puppy dog eyes. That sort of unconditional love comes to mind.
Elbow – “One Day Like This”
Earlier this week, Elbow played a charity show in London, for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the legendary Royal Albert Hall. Clips have been circulating their set-closing performance of “One Day Like This” (from their ’08 album The Seldom Seen Kid) which is a grand sweeping cinematic masterpiece. And in that setting, with the audience singing their hearts out and essentially forming one giant choir, accompanied by a live string section; it’s a stone-cold stunner. A song that feels like it never quiiiite got its due, but nonetheless is gorgeous and life affirming and worthy of revisiting over and over again.
Brigitte Calls Me Baby – “Slumber Party”
Just where do they get off being THIS cool? The guitars are very Interpol/Editors/Strokes, angular and fast, and they sound fantastic paired with singer Wes Leavins’ signature croon. It’s modern and it’s throwback. In all the right ways. Best listened to on repeat. P.S. They play Philly on May 12 at The Fillmore. See ya there?
