Philly Music Fest week is here with 9 shows across 7 nights
Philly Music Fest returns this week for its ninth year, spreading across seven nights from October 13 to 19. The festival has expanded to nine shows this year, all focused on local artists playing independently owned venues across the city. As a non-profit, all proceeds after paying musicians and venues go directly to local music education programs.
To kick things off, Dr. Dog plays two nights at Ardmore Music Hall on October 13 and 14, with support from Pat Finnerty & the Full Band. The rest of the week spans genres, featuring The Wonder Years, Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy, Greg Mendez, Catie Turner, Nazir Ebo, Daniel Villarreal, and Black Buttafly, alongside Grace Gardner, Kulfigirls, and the fest’s first-ever metal night headlined by Horrendous. Performances will be held at several venues, including Underground Arts, MilkBoy, Solar Myth, Fallser Club and Johnny Brenda’s. Special guests Devon Gilfillian, Snacktime, and Charlie Hall (War On Drugs) were just announced for Thursday’s show to perform Matt Quinn.
Beyond the nightly shows, the festival hosts Inside Hustle on Saturday, October 18 from noon to 3 p.m., a collaboration with WXPN. The afternoon includes a panel discussion with artists and an expo-style networking session with music industry professionals. The event is free; you can RSVP here.
Here’s the full lineup, day by day and venue by venue.
