WXPN’s Concert Picks: Wild Pink, Chicago, Catbite, more
We’ve got some ska, some slowcore, some heartland rock, some classic rock, and more happening at venues in and around Philly in the coming days. Scope the upcoming show selections here.

Friday: Patty Griffin & Kathleen Edwards at Scottish Rite Auditorium
The two folk icons are hosting a joint show across the river in Camden to kick off the weekend. Each released new albums last year: Griffin’s Crown of Roses and Edwards’ Billionaire. The latter in late 2025 sat down with World Cafe host Raina Douris to discuss the record, and play some songs. Listen to it here.
Saturday: Shawn Mullins at 118 North
The man behind the chart-topping ’90s mega hit “Lullaby” is heading to the Main Line for a gig with Orlando-based indie rocker Cat Ridgeway. While Mullins is best known for the certified-Platinum song, he’s got 10 studio albums filled with alt- and country-rock tunes to dig into.
Sunday: RX Bandits and Catbite at Union Transfer
Ska punk legends RX Bandits will close out the weekend with upstrokes, skanking, and horns. To make the show even better, they’re being supported by Philly’s own ska darlings, Catbite. We’ve got plenty of Catbite performances to enjoy: their 2023 NON-COMM performance, their 2022 XPoNential festival performance, their Key Studio Session, and their 2022 Free At Noon performance.
Monday: Rhyuhn at City Winery
Local composer and pianist Rhyuhn Green, known mononymously as Rhyuhn, has a highly decorated career already, despite being under 21. He’s a Julliard Fellow, the inaugural graduate scholar of the Marian Anderson Young Artist Program, performed at Carnegie Hall at age 12, opened for acts such as Paramore, had his pieces performed by various ensembles, conducted his own pieces, and more. Watch him perform at NPR’s Tiny Desk here.
Tuesday: Chicago and Styx at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion
Two iconic classic rock bands (both from Chicago) will serve up a hearty helping of nostalgia Tuesday night over in Camden. Founding Chicago members Lee Loughnane and Robert Lamm spoke with Stephen Kallao on World Cafe in 2022 about their latest studio release, Born For This Moment. And about 12 years ago, a bus as part of Styx and Foreigner’s tour caught fire ahead of their show at the same venue, then the Susquehanna Bank Center, and thankfully no one was hurt. Hopefully no fires this time around.
Wednesday: Fat, Evil Children at Johnny Brenda’s
Los Angeles indie outfit Fat, Evil Children (yes, that’s their name) are set for a show with Philly’s New, Not Shameful at JB’s in the middle of the week for a slowcore showcase.
Thursday: Wild Pink at Spruce Street Harbor Park
Spruce Street Harbor Park has been hosting shows nonstop all summer, and on Thursday they’re having New York’s indie and heartland rockers Wild Pink stop by for a free Live & Local show. The band came through WXPN for Free At Noon in 2024 to promote their album Dulling The Horns, which just had a deluxe version drop in October last year.
