Memoryhouse started off as a multimedia collaboration in composer Evan Abeele’s bedroom. Named for musician Max Richter’s 2002 album of the same name, it paired the classically trained Abeele’s compositions with Denise Nouvion’s photography. The duo’s debut EP The Years is ambient dream-pop, with Nouvion’s vocals emerging airily from the layers and loops of watery reverb. It’s more of a seascape than an album, full of synths and lilting, bubbling waves of noise. And yet Memoryhouse manages to retain a pop sensibility; the music is listenable, and if not catchy, it is intriguing enough to keep the ear interested and happy. Memoryhouse performs with Foxes In Fiction at 9 p.m. at Johnny Brenda’s; tickets to the 21+ show are $10. —Kiley Bense
